Why Social Media
Aren’t we amazed at the pace at which the world around us evolving? Be it work, travel or our kids for that matter..everything is evolving and one thing that is driving with change is Social Media.
Yes! The thought of how Social media is becoming part of our daily life has excited me enough that I have decide to write this post RIGHT NOW at 4 am!
Today, every company is reconsidering its marketing challenges in the light of social media and how best can they blossom the miraculous world of social media
There are companies who have already shaken up the universe of Social media and have set benchmarks that serve as case studies for social media experts. A few such names are Jim Beam – social media initiatives/ Dell community/ Starbucks
Well, these are just a few examples that I could think of right now. What we see today is one way broadcasting. The companies share information on the website but there is no way for visitor to interact with the company. I think that the companies need to examine the marketing and client touch points to see how these one way broadcast messages can be transformed into relationship building conversations.
Now, everytime I visit a company site or receive any type of marketing information I think of how it can be socialized or made interactive and how the company lost an opportunity to build a relationship with me as a customer!!
If a company wants to build real life evangelists for their product/brand/ services, it needs to “Keep the dialogue going”. Social Media provides this opportunity. Companies can work around their present marketing strategy and build a system which will not only help them retain customers, add new customers, create real life evangelists but also get real insights about what customers are thinking about them.
Happy reading

Completely agree. Social media is not just an opportunity, but IS the way forward. I am not sure how much of a ‘choice’ will companies be left with regarding social media engagement!

I agree with you Achintya. Very few companies in India have actually started looking at Social media seriously. Kingfisher, Sunsilk, makemytrip, are some of the names that come to my mind are experimenting with the social media.

I am looking forward to the day when companies in India will reach where Starbucks is today or the way Fiat launched Punto in Europe.

Excellent start mohit. I agree with you when you say social media would become the place to have dialogue with consumers atleast with those who are online. Hopefully the day would come soon when companies wake up to this phenomena and be there.
